The land of Malila, Tampilisan

The Subanen people and the Visayans who already lived in Barangay Malila T., Municipality of Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte, were the earliest settlers in this area. The majority of them were from nearby towns like Liloy in Zamboanga del Norte, Labason in Zamboanga del Norte, and Maria in Siquijor. Moreover, some Visayans arrived from Negros in Cebu and the province of Iloilo. Malila - T. was still a Sitio in Zamboanga del Norte's Barangay Liloy.

Malila - T. was established in 1988. During the administration of then-appointed Mayor Cesar A. Bomediano, a new barrio was founded, and Mr. Marcos Daligdig was named the barangay captain. The initial settlers' places of origin were used to create the name of Barangay Malila-T.
